AI search visibility for local businesses
When a customer asks ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity or Google’s AI Mode who to hire, the answer names a few businesses. We record every month whether yours is one of them, and work on the sources those tools draw from.
Why does AI recommend one business and not another?
AI tools repeat what their sources agree on: your website, your Google profile, directories, reviews and what other sites say about you.
When those sources are thin or contradict each other, such as a different phone number on Yelp, old hours on Facebook, or services your website never names, the tool has less to go on. A competitor whose facts line up everywhere is the safer name to give.
So the work starts with a record: the exact question, the date, each tool’s answer and the sites it cited. Every later month is compared with that baseline.
What can you check yourself this week?
Four checks you can do with free accounts, about 75 minutes in total, that show where you stand before anyone touches anything.
Step 1: Ask four AI tools who to hire
In ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity, ask “Who is the best [your service] in [your city]?” and “Who should I hire for [your service] near [your city]?” Write down every business named, in order, and whether you appear.
20 minutesStep 2: Ask what AI knows about you
Ask each tool “What do you know about [business name] in [city]?” Check every fact it gives (hours, phone, services, owner, rating) against your Google profile. Circle anything wrong.
15 minutesStep 3: Check your robots.txt lets AI search in
Open yourdomain.com/robots.txt. If OAI-SearchBot, ChatGPT-User, PerplexityBot or Claude-SearchBot sits above “Disallow: /”, those tools are told not to read your site. Ask your web person why.
10 minutesStep 4: Match your name, address and phone in five places
Copy your business name, address and phone exactly as shown on your website footer, Google profile, Facebook page, Yelp and Apple Maps. Any difference in spelling, suite number or phone is a fix to make this week.

What does AI Search Visibility include?
It includes a recorded audit across six AI tools, the same questions re-run every month, and work on the facts and sources those tools draw from.
AI visibility audit
We ask ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode the questions your customers ask, like “best [service] in [city]”. We record who is named, in what order, which sites are cited, and what each tool says about your hours, phone and services.
Monthly monitoring
The same questions every month, logged with the date and full answer. Your monthly report shows which tools named you, which competitors they named instead, and what changed.
Consistent business facts
Name, address, phone, hours, services and service area made identical on your site, Google, Apple Maps, Bing, Yelp and Facebook.
Earned citations
From Growth up: getting your business named in sources AI tools cite, such as local news, trade associations, suppliers and directories for your trade.
Structured data
Schema markup that states what the business is, what it does and where it works: core pages on Growth, a full site graph on Scale.
High-trust profiles and earned placements
On Scale: profiles on authoritative sites, and pitching your business for “best of” lists on its merits. We don’t buy list spots.

Questions about AI Search Visibility
Is this different from SEO?
It overlaps. Good SEO helps, but AI answers lean harder on consistent facts and on what other sources say about you. We work on both, and measure the AI side directly by asking the tools.
Which AI tools do you check?
ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, and Google’s AI Overviews and AI Mode.
What won’t you do?
We don’t plant questions and answers in forums, buy paid wiki pages, build networks of look-alike sites, or use tactics sold as “LLM manipulation”. They put your name at risk and the results don’t last.
Can you guarantee AI will recommend us?
No. AI answers change and nobody controls them. We measure where you stand, improve what those tools draw from, and show you the answers every month.
